Wang Dong

Associate Professor, International I Ching Research Center

Wang Dong is an Associate Professor at the International I Ching Research Center whose research explores the deep connections between the Zhouyi's image-number system and ancient Chinese science — astronomy, calendrical science, and mathematics.

Academic Biography

Wang Dong is an Associate Professor at the International I Ching Research Center. He earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Osaka University, where his research investigated the intersection of the Zhouyi's image-number (xiangshu) system with ancient Chinese scientific thought.

Professor Wang's work has significantly advanced the understanding of how the Yijing's hexagram structures correlate with ancient Chinese astronomical models, calendrical cycles, and mathematical principles. His recent research extends into comparative natural philosophy, examining how Yijing cosmology relates to pre-modern Western scientific paradigms and what productive dialogue between these traditions can offer contemporary readers.

At I Ching Wisdom, Professor Wang brings scientific literacy to articles on yin-yang theory, hexagram structure, and the cosmological dimensions of the Book of Changes.
